Transformation of sentence
Transformation অর্থ আকার বা আকৃতির পরিবর্তন করা। অর্থের পরিবর্তন
না করে sentence এর একটি ব্যাকরণগত রূপ থেকে অন্য একটি ব্যাকরণগত রূপে পরিবর্তন করাকে
Transformation of sentence বলে। অর্থাৎ sentence এর আকার বা আকৃতির পরিবর্তন হবে তবে
মূল sentence এর অর্থের কোন পরিবর্তন হবে না। যেমনঃ
Affir: Man is mortal.
Neg: Man is not immortal.
Affirmative sentence- কে Negative sentence- এ পরিবর্তন করার
নিয়মঃ
** Affirmative sentence- এ Auxiliary verb থাকলে negative
করার সময় Auxiliary verb এর পরে not বসিয়ে মূল শব্দের (প্রধানত: Adjective) বিপরীত
শব্দ বসাতে হয়। যেমনঃ
Affir: Zahid is a good boy.
Neg: Zahid is not a bad boy.
** Sentence এর মধ্যে কোন Auxiliary verb না থেকে শুধু মাত্র
মূল Verb থাকলে Present indefinite tense এর ক্ষেত্রে Do not/Does not এবং Past
indefinite tense এর ক্ষেত্রে Did not বসিয়ে মূল শব্দের বিপরীত অর্থবোধক শব্দ বসাতে
হবে। যেমনঃ
Affir: I obey my teacher.
Neg: I do not disobey my teacher.
যদি মূল শব্দের কোন বিপরীত অর্থবোধক শব্দ পাওয়া না যায় তবে
Negative interrogative করতে হবে। যেমনঃ
Affir: He plays football.
Neg: Does he not play football?
Affir: He went to school,
Neg: Did he not go to school?
** সৃষ্টিকর্ত বা কোন ব্যাক্তির ক্ষেত্রে Only বা alone এর
পরিবর্তে None but ব্যবহার করতে হয়। যেমনঃ
Affir: Only God can help us.
Neg: None but God can help us.
Affir: Only graduates are eligible for the post.
Neg: None but graduates are eligible for the post.
** Only দ্বারা কোন বস্তু বুঝালে এর পরিবর্তে Nothing but ব্যবহৃত
হয়। যেমনঃ
Affir: I bought only a toy.
Neg: I bought nothing but a toy.
** Only দ্বারা বয়স অর্থাৎ কোন সংখ্যা বুঝালে only এর পরিবর্তে
not more than বা not less than ব্যবহার করতে হয়। যেমনঃ
Affir: My brother is only ten.
Neg: My brother is not more than ten.
** Must এর পরিবর্তে Negative sentence –এ cannot but অথবা
cannot help বসে। তবে cannot help বসালে মূল verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয়। যেমন:
Affir: You must obey your teacher.
Neg: You can not but obey your teacher.
অথবা, You can not help obeying your teacher
** Every থাকলে Negative করার সময় every এর পরিবর্তে There
is no এরপর Every এর সাথে যে word থাকে তা বসে এবং মূল verb এর পূর্বে but বসে। যেমন:
Affir: Every mother loves her child.
Neg: There is no mother but loves her child.
** Always থাকলে Negative এ Never বসে এবং মূল শব্দের বিপরীত
শব্দ বসে। যেমন:
Affir: I always agree with you.
Neg: I never disagree with you.
** As soon as দ্বারা affirmative sentence শুরু হলে
Negative করার সময় No sooner had ______ than দ্বারা করতে হয়। যেমন:
Affir: As soon as he came we started the meeting.
Neg: No sooner had he come than we started the meeting.
** Both __ and দ্বারা affirmative sentence শুরু হলে Negative
করার সময় Both এর পরিবর্তে Not only এবং and এর পরিবর্তে but also ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
যেমন:
Affir: Both Rahim and Karim went there.
Neg: Not only Rahim but also Karim went there.
