Transformation of sentence part 6 (Simple to compound, Complex to compound)

Simple to Compound

***1. Present participle যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Compound Sentence এ পরিবর্তনের সময় Present participle এর বাকী অংশটি যে Tense এ থাকে Present participle কেও সেই একই Tense এ করতে হবে একই Subject দ্বিয়ে Sentence দুটির মাঝে and বসে। যেমন:

Simple: Drinking water, the writer wanted to save money.

Compound: The writer drank water and wanted to save money.

***2. Being যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Compound Sentence এ পরিবর্তন করার সময় Being এর বাকী অংশটি যে Tense এ থাকে Being কেও সেই একই Tense এ করতে হয়। Sentence দুটির মাঝে and বসে।(Being যুক্ত বক্যে Subject না থাকলে একই Subject “Being” অংশের প্রথমে বসে)। যেমন:

Simple: Being honest, he could not tell a lie.

Compound: He was honest and he could not tell a lie.

Simple: The weather being cold, we cannot go out.

Compound: The weather is cold and we cannot go out.

***3. Perfect participle যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Compound Sentence এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে প্রথমে Subject + Perfect participle এর Past perfect form + and + অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Simple: Having forgotten him, I went out.

Compound: I had forgotten him and went out.

***4. Too …… to যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Compound Sentence এ পরিণত করতে হলে Too এর জায়গায় very বসে, এছাড়া to এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত আর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না + and + পুনরায় Subject বসে + Tense অনুযায়ী cannot/could not বসে + to এর পরের অংশ থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত বসে। যেমন:

Simple: He is too weak to walk.

Compound: He is very weak and he cannot walk.

Complex to Compound

***1. Since/As/When যুক্ত Complex Sentence কে Compound Sentence-এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে-

Since/As/When উঠে যায়। দুটি clause এর মাঝে and বসে। আর সব ঠিক থাকে। যেমন:

Complex: Since the writer was young, he could not refuse the proposal of the lady guest.

Compound: The writer was young and could not refuse the proposal of the lady guest.

***2. Though/Although যুক্ত Complex Sentence কে Compound Sentence এ পরিবর্তনের নিয়ম:

Though/Although উঠে যায় + ১ম Clause বসে + but বসে + ২য় Clause টি বসে। যেমন:

Complex: Though he tried to pray, he could not get rid of the curse.

Compound: He tried to pray but could not get rid of the curse.

***3. Relative pronoun যুক্ত Complex Sentence কে Compound করতে হলে-

Relative Pronoun টির জায়গায় and বসে এবং প্রথম Sentence এর object টি Subject হিসাবে বসে। আর সব ঠিক থাকে। যেমন:

Complex: The writer took a cabin that was small.

Compound: The writer took a cabin and it was small.

***4. If যুক্ত Complex Sentence টি Negative অর্থবোধক হলে Compound Sentence এ পরিবর্তনের নিয়ম:

If থেকে not পর্যন্ত উঠে যায় + অবশিষ্ট অংশ + or + বাকী Clause টি বসে। যেমন:

Complex: If you do not move, you will die.

Compound: Move or you will die.

**তবে Sentence টি Affirmative হলে or এর জায়গায় and বসে। আর সব ঠিক থাকে। যেমন:

Complex: If you run fast, you can win the prize.

Compound: Run fast and you can win the prize.

Transformation of sentence part 5 (Compound to complex, Simple to complex)

Compound to complex

***1. And যুক্ত Compound Sentence এর একটি clause যদি অন্যটির কারণ বা সময় নির্দেশ করে তবে উক্ত Compound Sentence টিকে complex করতে হলে - প্রথম sentence এর প্রথমে Since/As/When বসে Complex Sentence এর + প্রথম Sentence বসে + And এর পরিবর্তে কমা বসে + দ্বিতীয় Sentence বসে। এবং দুটি  clause এ subject বসাতে হবে। (কারণ বুঝালে Since/As, এবং কারণ বুঝালে When বসে)। যেমন:

Compound: The writer was poor and could not taste caviar.

Complex: Since the writer was poor, he could not taste caviar.

** প্রথম Clause টি শর্ত বুঝালে প্রথমে If + Subject + প্রদত্ত clause টি + কমা + অপর clause বসে। যেমন:

Compound: Work hard and you will shine in life.

Complex: If you work hard, you will shine in life.

***2. But যুক্ত Compound Sentence কে Complex করতে হলে প্রখমে প্রথম sentence এর প্রথমে Though/Although বসে + প্রথম Sentence বসে + But এর পরিবর্তে কমা + দ্বিতীয় Sentence বসে। (Complex এর দুটি Clause এ Subject বসাতে হয়)। যেমন:

Compound: He ran fast but could not get the train.

Complex: Though he ran fast, he could not get the train.

***3. Or যুক্ত Compound Sentence কে Complex করার সময়- প্রথমে If বসে + Subject + do not + প্রদত্ত clause টি বসে + কমা + দ্বিতীয় clause বসে। যেমন:

Compound: Work hard or you cannot prosper in life.

Complex: If you do not work hard, you cannot prosper in life.

Simple to Complex

***1. Present Participle যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Complex Sentence এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে, Present Participle এর বাকী অংশটি যে Tense এ থাকে Present Participle এর অংশটিও একই Subject দিয়ে সেই Tense এ করতে হয়। দু বাক্যের মাঝে কমা (,)বসে। প্রখম Sentece এর প্রথমে Since/As/When কারণ বুঝালে Since/As সময় বুঝালে When বসে। যেমন:

Simple: Closing the door, I went back to work.

Complex: When I closed the door, I went back to work.

***2. Being যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Complex এ পরিবর্তন করার সময় Being এর বাকী Sentence যে Tense এ থাকে Being এর অংশকে সেই একই Tense এ গঠন করতে হয়। Sentence এর মাঝে কম (,) বসে। Being যুক্ত Sentence এ Subject না থাকলে একই Subject দুটি Sentence এ বসে। প্রথম Sentence এর প্রথমে Since/As/When বসে। কারণ বুঝালে Since/As সময় বুঝালে When বসে। যেমন:

Simple: The water being very hot, I could not drink it.

Complex: Since the water was very hot, I could not drink it.

***3. Too.....to যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Complex এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে  Too এর জায়গায় so বসে এছাড়া to এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত আর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না + to এর পরিবর্তে that বসে + প্রথম Subject আবার বসে + Tense অনুযায়ী can not/could not বসে + অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Simple: He is too weak to walk.

Complex: He is so weak that he cannot walk.

***4. উদ্দেশ্যমূলক Simple Sentence কে Complex এ পরিবর্তন করার সময়-

প্রদত্ত Sentence এর to এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বসে + to এর পরিবর্তে so that + প্রথম subject পুনরায় + Tense অনুযায়ী can/could, অথবা may/might বসে + to এর পরবর্তী অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Simple: He works hard to shine in life.

Complex: He works hard so that he may shine in life.

***5. In spite of যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Complex এ পরিণত করার সময়-

In spite of এর পরিবর্তে Though/Although বসে + Subject বসে + Verb বসে + Adjective/noun বসে + Comma + অপর Sentence বসে। যেমন:

Simple: In spite of his being healthy, he is lazy.

Complex: Though he is healthy, he is lazy.

***6. Because of যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Complex এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে-

প্রথমে Since + subject বসে + verb + Adjective/noun বসে + Comma + অপর Sentence বসে। যেমন:

Simple: Because of my illness, I could not join the meeting.

Complex: Since I was ill, I could not join the meeting.

***7. Subject + Verb + Object + Present Participle যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Complex এ পরিবর্তন করতে হলে-

Subject + Verb + Object + Object এর Relative Pronoun বসে + Tense ও Relative Pronoun অনুযায়ী Be verb বসে + Present Participle সহ অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Simple: I saw a bird flying.

Complex: I saw a bird which was flying.

** তবে Pronominal Object (me, us, you, him, them, her) থাকলে নিয়ম টি হবে-

Subject + Verb + that/when + Object টির Subjective form + Tense অনুযায়ী Be verb বসে + Present Participle সহ অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Simple: I saw him reading.

Complex: I saw that he was reading.

     or, I saw him when he was reading.

***8. Subject + Verb + Adjective + Noun যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Complex করতে হলে-

Subject + Verb + Noun + Noun এর Relative Pronoun + Tense ও Noun অনুযায়ী be verb + Adjective বসে। যেমন:

Simple: I saw a lame man.

Complex: I saw a man who was lame.

**তবে Adjective টি Subject কে Qualify করলে-

It + Tense অনুযায়ী be verb + Subject + Subject এর Relative Pronoun + Verb + Adjective বসে। যেমন:

Simple: Health is wealth.

Complex: It is health which is wealth.

Transformation Of Sentence part 4 (Complex to Simple, Compound to Simple)

Complex to Simple

***1 . Since/As/When যুক্ত Complex sentence এর দুটি clause এর subject এক হলে এবং দুটি clause এর মূল verb থাকলে

প্রথমে প্রথম Sentence এর মূল verb এর Present form এর সাথে ing যোগ + প্রথম clause এর verb এর পরের অংশ + কমা (,) + দ্বিতীয় clause এর subject এর জায়গায় প্রথম sentence এর subject + দ্বিতীয় sentence এর অবশিষ্ট অংশ। যেমন:

Complex: When the thief saw the police, he ran away.

Simple: Seeing the police, the thief ran away.

***2. দুটি clause এর subject ভিন্ন হলে এবং প্রথম clause টিতে am/is/are/was/were থাকলে এর পরিবর্তে being এবং has/have/had এর পরিবর্তে having বসে + দ্বিতীয় clause টি বসে। (since, as, when) সর্বদা উঠে যায়। যেমন:

Complex: Since the weather was very cold, there were no birds or animals in snow covered country.

Simple: The weather being very cold, there were no birds or animals in snow covered country.

Complex: When the meeting was over, we went back home.

Simple: The meeting being over, we went back home.

***3. Since/As যুক্ত complex sentence এর clause দুটির subject এক হলে এবং Since/As যুক্ত clause টিতে be verb থাকলে-

Since/As এর পরিবর্তে Because of বসে + সেই clause এর subject এর possessive form বসে + am/is/are/was/were এর পরিবর্তে being এবং has/have/had এর পরিবর্তে having + সেই sentence এর অবশিষ্ট অংশ + কমা + পরের sentence বসে। যেমন:

Complex: Since he was ill, he could not work hard.

Simple: Because of his being ill, he could not work hard.

***4. Relative pronoun যুক্ত complex sentence কে simple করার সময় প্রথমে প্রদত্ত sentence এর প্রথম থেকে Relative Pronoun (who, which, that) পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বসে + Relative Pronoun টি উঠে যায় + Relative Pronoun এর পরে be verb উঠে যায় + এরপর মূল verb এর present form এর সাথে ing যুক্ত হয় + অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Complex: The writer lived in a cabin that belonged to the orphanage.

Simple: The writer lived in a cabin belonging to the orphanage.

***5. When যুক্ত Complex sentence কে simple করতে হলে When clause এ ছোট সময়/ বয়স/ঋতুর উল্লেখ থাকলে প্রথমে When উঠে যায় + When এর পর subject (it) ও verb উঠে যায় + ছোট সময় বুঝালে at/in বসে, ঋতু থাকলে তার পূর্বে in বসে, বয়সের উল্লেখ থাকলে তার পূর্বে at the age of বসে। যেমন:

Complex: When it was daylight, I was half awakened by the sound of chopping.

Simple: At daylight I was half awakened by the sound of chopping.

Complex: When it is spring, the cuckoo sings.

Simple: In spring the cuckoo sing.

Complex: When he was four, he left his village.

Simple: At the age of four he left his village.

**তবে When দ্বারা কোন সময় না বুঝিয়ে কোন কাজ করা বুঝালে At the time of বসে। যেমন:

Complex: When it was raining, he woke up.

Simple: At the time of raining, he woke up.

**When যুক্ত sentence এ কোন personal subject এর উল্লেখ থাকলে উক্ত subject এর possessive form বসে। যেমন:

Complex: When I was eating, he came.

Simple: At the time of my eating, he came.

***6. If দ্বারা গঠিত Negative Complex Sentence কে Simple করার সময় প্রথমে Without বসে + ‘If’ clause এর মূল verb এর সাথে ing যোগ + verb এর পরের অংশ + অপর clause বসে। যেমন:

Complex: If you do not work hard, you will not prosper in life.

Simple: Without working hard, you will not prosper in life.

**If clause টি Affirmative হলে without এর জায়গায় by বসবে। আর সব ঠিক থাকবে। যেমন:

Complex: If you work hard, you can succeed in life.

Simple: By working hard, you can succeed in life.

***7. So that যুক্ত Complex Sentence কে Simple করার সময় প্রথমে প্রদত্ত sentence এর প্রথম থেকে So এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বসে + So থেকে can/could/may/might পর্যন্ত উঠে যায় + to + প্রদত্ত sentence এর অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Complex: He worked hard so that he could prosper in life.

Simple: He worked hard to prosper in life.

***8. So ……… that যুক্ত Complex sentence কে Simple করার সময় So এর জায়গায too বসে + এছাড়া that এর পূর্ব পর্যন্ত কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না + that থেকে not পর্যন্ত উঠে যায় + to + sentence এর অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Complex: He is so weak that he cannot walk.

Simple: He is too weak to walk.

***9. Though/Although যুক্ত Complex sentence কে Simple sentence এ পরিবর্তন করার সময়-

Though/Although এর পরিবর্তে In spite of বসে + সেই clause এর subject এর possessive form + am/is/are/was/were এর পরিবর্তে being বা has/have/had এর পরিবর্তে having বসে বা বক্যের মূল verb এর সাথে ing যোগ + clause টির অবশিষ্ট অংশ + অপর clause বসে। যেমন:

Complex: Though he tried heart and soul, he could not pass the examination.

Simple: In spite of his trying heart and soul, he could not pass the examination.

Complex: Although the man has vast riches, he wants more.

Simple: In spite of having vast riches, the man wants more.

Compound to simple

***1. And যুক্ত Compound Sentence এর Subject এক হলে এবং উভয় অংশে মূল verb থকলে-

প্রথমে প্রথম বাক্যের মূল verb এর present form এর সাথে ing যোগ হবে + প্রথম বাক্যের মূল verb এর পরের অংশ বসে + and এর পরিবর্তে কমা (,) বসে + দ্বিতীয় বাক্যের কর্তা থাকলে উঠে সেখানে প্রথম বাক্যের কর্তা বসে + দ্বিতীয় বক্যের অবশিষ্ট অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Compound: The old man killed the bird and brought bad luck to the crew.

Simple: Killing the bird, the old man brought bad luck to the crew.

Compound: Dipa sold her hair and bought a platinum fob chain.

Simple: Selling her hair, Dipa bought a platinum fob chain.

***2. And এর উভয় বাক্যের subject ভিন্ন হলে এবং প্রথম sentence এ am/is/are/was/were থাকলে এর পরিবর্তে being এবং has/have/had এর পরিবর্তে having বসে, এছাড়া প্রথম বাক্যের আর কোন পরিবর্তন হবে না + and এর পরিবর্তে কমা বসে + দ্বিতীয় বাক্য বসে। যেমন:

Compound: The marriage ceremony was over and the guests were all going to the feast.

Simple: The marriage ceremony being over, the guests were all going to the feast.

Compound: The sun had set and we returned home.

Simple: The having set, we returned home.

***3. Or যুক্ত Compound sentence কে Simple করার সময়-

প্রথমে Without + প্রথম বক্যের মূল verb এর সাথে ing যোগ + verb এর পরের অংশ + or এর পরিবর্তে কমা + দ্বিতীয় বাক্য বসে। যেমন:

Compound: Work hard or you will not prosper in life.

Simple: Without working hard, you will not prosper in life.

***4. And এর উভয় অংশের Subject এক হলে এবং প্রথম Sentence দ্বারা কারন বুঝালে-

প্রথমে Because of + প্রথম sentence এর subject এর possessive form + am/is/are/was/were এর পরিবর্তে being বা has/have/had এর পরিবর্তে having বা মূল ক্রিয়ার সাথে ing যোগ হয় + প্রথম sentence এর অবশিষ্ট অংশ + and এর পরিবর্তে কমা + দ্বিতীয় sentence বসে। যেমন:

Compound: He is ill and he cannot move an inch.

Simple: Because of his being ill, he cannot move an inch.

Compound: He has much money and he can buy a car.

Simple: Because of his having much money, he can buy a car.

***5. But যুক্ত Compound sentence কে Simple করার সময় প্রথমে In spite of + প্রথম sentence এর subject এর possessive form বসে + am/is/are/was/were এর পরিবর্তে being বা has/have/had এর পরিবর্তে having বা মূল ক্রিয়ার সাথে ing যোগ হয় + but এর পরিবর্তে কমা (,) + দ্বিতীয় sentence বসে। যেমন:

Simple: I ran fast but I could not get the train.

Compound: In spite of my running fast, I could not get the train.

***6. সময় নির্দেশক Compound sentence কে Simple করার সময় প্রথমে সময় বাচক clause এর subject (it) ও verb উঠে যায় + সময় বাচক অংশটি বসে + and উঠে যায় + তার পরের অংশ বসে। যেমন:

Simple: It was twenty years ago and I was living paris.

Compound: Twenty years ago, I was living paris.
